The European project TEAM – Tackling the Mental Health Stigma in Youth Football brought its partners together in Madrid, Spain, on 5 and 6 October 2026 for its third transnational project meeting.
The meeting brought together seven organisations from five European countries, including the Bragança Football Association (AF Bragança). The consortium also includes the University of Nicosia, GDA Sports, Fundación Red Deporte, the University of Chieti-Pescara, the University of Thessaly and the Cyprus Football Association.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Sport, TEAM aims to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health in youth football and contribute to creating a more supportive sporting environment for young athletes.
During the two-day meeting, partners reviewed the progress made in implementing the project and established priorities for the next phase. Particular attention was given to the development and implementation of tools designed to address mental health stigma in youth football.
The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the participating organisations, assess ongoing activities and coordinate the next steps towards achieving the project’s objectives.
AF Bragança’s participation reinforces its commitment to European cooperation initiatives that promote a more inclusive, supportive and responsible sporting environment, with particular attention to the psychological wellbeing of young athletes.
Through collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of practical tools, TEAM seeks to encourage greater awareness of mental health in youth football and help build a sporting culture in which young players feel supported and able to seek help when needed.
