Did you know that a Bragança Football Association Referee was in the Portuguese Cup Final?
Ana Rita Linhares, a female football referee from the Bragança FA, was present at the final of the Women’s Portuguese Cup, held on Sunday at the National Stadium in Jamor, between SL Benfica and Rancing Power.
The young referee was part of the team led by Catarina Campos.
The final ended with a 4-1 victory for the SL Benfica, who did the double, in a match that broke the record for the number of fans in the stands at the Nacional Stadium in the Women’s Portuguese Cup, with 18,124 spectators in attendance.
The Portugal FA and Bragança FA support gender equality in football, futsal and beach soccer. To encourage more young girls to play, referee, coach or manage we need to have the best role models in the top national and international competitions.
