The Kick-Off Meeting for the Erasmus+ “SAFE” project, in which Bragança FA is one of the partner institutions, took place at the offices of the European Olympic Committees’ representation in Brussels (EOC EU Office) on the 18th and 19th of March 2026.
The “SAFE – Safeguarding Approaches Focusing on grassroots sport Environment” project aims to develop awareness-raising, educational, and micro-learning tools for sports organizations and empower them to lead the cultural change that will effectively enhance safeguarding preparedness in grassroots sports in Europe.
This collaborative partnership brings together 15 organizations from 10 countries, including 14 partners and 1 associated partner. The countries represented are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
Building on existing initiatives and tools developed for grassroots sports, the partners are committed to addressing gaps so that the highest standards of protection reach everyone who participates in sports in Europe. In doing so, the consortium will work to prevent and respond to harassment and abuse in grassroots sports, particularly at the local and regional levels where the most vulnerable members of our society—and especially children—have their first contact with sports.
