Diabetes – Augmented Reality Training (DART) is the name of the project where Bragança FA is participating. The second working meeting took place between the 1st and 3rd of May in Athens, Greece.
The project aims to promote synergies between sport and health, inclusion in sport, physical activity beneficial to the health of people with type I and II diabetes, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and raise awareness of the added value of sport and physical activity.
The objectives of the DART project will be achieved through the design and implementation of innovative digital tools and online training modules.
More specifically, DART will develop and implement the following:
a) an innovative, fun, and eco-friendly mobile application (app) in seven languages, using an augmented reality “personal trainer” that teaches patients specialized physical exercises that will help reduce blood pressure, lower blood fat levels, keep the heart healthy, improve blood sugar levels, and prevent excess weight gain. In addition, the app will include geofence technology for outdoor activities, a personalized calendar for entering medications, doctor’s appointments, etc., and an insulin dose reminder;
b) 30 interactive electronic modules based on Moodle, intended for physical education teachers, including a series of podcasts;
c) Awareness-raising events aimed at a wider audience of diabetic patients (type I and II) and their families in all project countries
In addition to Bragança FA, the DART consortium is made up of six other entities with experience in all areas related to the project (education, sports, medicine, and technology) from six different countries: Spain, Greece, Italy, Romania, Croatia, and Portugal
The results of DART will be tested by a large number of patients and physical education teachers in the six participating countries.
