The ADCS Carvalhais, based in the Municipality of Mirandela, in the North of Portugal hosted on the last 15th March 2025 the Kick-Off Meeting of the “Mazapié” Erasmus+ Sport Project.
“Mazapié” is a new game that want to tackle the rising of physical inactivity and pollution resulting from plastics use, and promote gender equality. It’s an alternative sport that, given the internal logic of the game, is described as: invasion (or shared court), dual, collective, with implement, sustainable, democratic, collaborative-cooperative and opposition. Furthermore, under the idiosyncrasy of alternative sports, it is a sport: inclusive, egalitarian, co-educational (mixed), participatory and educational.
The project’s general objective is to Promote Physical Activity, Inclusivity and environmental consciousness through the development of “Mazapié”.
In this first meeting the partners from Portugal and Spain had the opportunity to play for the first time ever this game in Portuguese territory and was great experience for all participants.
The project it’s coordinated by ADCS Carvalhais form Portugal and the partners are IRSEI from Italy and the Asociación Española de Mazapie from Spain.
